My Money FAQ
My Money is a free iPhone app that turns a monthly budget into one number: what you can still spend today. It needs no account, never connects to a bank and stores your records on the iPhone; the optional online AI stays off until you agree to it, feature by feature.
These answers describe My Money 1.0.1, the current version on the App Store. If your question is not here, see the support page or email snaptidyapp@outlook.com.
Basics and price
What is My Money?
My Money is an iPhone budgeting and expense-tracking app that turns your monthly budget into one number: how much you can still spend today. You log spending by typing a short line, speaking, or choosing bill screenshots, and the number updates as you go.
Is My Money free?
Yes. My Money is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no ads. It contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDK.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account or sign-in is needed: you set a monthly budget on first launch and start logging. Records are stored on the iPhone and budget math runs on the device, so logging and the daily number work without a connection; only the optional online AI features need one.

Setting a budget
How do I set my budget?
On first launch, which takes about a minute, either type a monthly spending amount or take the budget assessment. The assessment asks about your income, fixed costs, everyday living costs, a savings goal and your spending style, then offers plans: Saver (save about 30% of income), Balanced (about 20%) and Flexible (about 10%), plus Goal when your own savings goal is above 20% and Essentials when essential costs leave very little room. You can change the plan or redo the assessment at any time in Settings.
How is the daily amount calculated?
The budget assessment subtracts fixed costs and everyday living costs from your income, then subtracts your savings to get monthly pocket money; the daily reference is about that amount divided by 30. For example, $3,000 income minus $1,200 fixed costs, $600 living costs and $300 savings leaves $900, or about $30 a day. Irregular income is budgeted at 75% of your recent average, and all of this runs on the device with fixed rules, not AI.
The daily number and carry-over
What does “left to spend today” mean?
It is the large number on the Home screen: how much you can still spend today within your budget. Each purchase you log lowers it, and Home also shows what you have spent today, a one-line note on your pace and your recent entries.
What happens if I spend less or more than the daily amount?
Spend less and the difference carries into the following days; spend more and the coming days get less. Carry-over is capped at 5 days’ worth of the daily amount, so at $30 a day no more than $150 carries over, and an unused week never turns into one oversized number. The daily budget method guide has a worked example.
Logging: typing, voice, screenshots
How do I log an expense?
Type a short line such as “Coffee 5” or “Taxi home 18”, and the amount and category are filled in from more than 50 categories. Dates like “yesterday” are understood; future dates are not allowed.
Can I log expenses by voice?
Yes. Tap the mic on the “Add” button on Home, say what you bought, check the draft and save. Speech recognition runs only on the iPhone and raw audio is never uploaded, so if your device or language does not support on-device recognition, voice is unavailable and you type instead.
Can My Money read bill or receipt screenshots?
Yes. Tap the picture button next to “Add” and choose up to 5 screenshots or photos of payment records, bills or receipts, or take a photo; Apple Vision reads the text on the iPhone. Each line becomes a draft you can edit or uncheck, nothing is saved until you tap save, and images are never uploaded; the screenshot expense tracking guide has tips for clean results.
Can I log income and edit past entries?
Yes. Income can be logged and offsets spending in the budget. Any entry can be edited or deleted, and you can browse the full history list or a calendar view with each day’s total.
Action Button, Siri and Shortcuts
Can I log expenses with the Action Button?
Yes. In Settings → Action Button → Shortcut, choose My Money’s Voice Log action or a shortcut you made. The Action Button is on iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, all iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 models, iPhone 16e and iPhone Air; on other iPhones, Back Tap (Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap) can run the same shortcut, as the Action Button logging guide shows.
What is the difference between Voice Log and Quick Log?
Voice Log opens My Money straight into a full-screen voice recorder that starts listening; you review the draft, save, and the recorder closes. Quick Log saves a line of text without opening the app and without a review step, replies “Logged $X. $Y left to spend today.” and shows a short confirmation in the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one.
Can I log an expense without opening the app?
Yes. In the Shortcuts app, make a shortcut with Dictate Text followed by My Money’s Quick Log, set “Log text” to “Dictated Text”, and name it something like “Voice Log Anywhere”. Run it with the Action Button, Back Tap or Siri and the entry is saved without opening My Money; the app’s Settings include a step-by-step guide.
Does My Money work with Siri?
Yes. Say “Voice log with My Money” or “Quick log with My Money”, or say the name of a shortcut you made, such as “Voice Log Anywhere”.
Insights, recaps and widgets
How can I see where my money goes?
The spending summary covers the last 30 days: total spent, per-day average and net, with a category donut chart and a ranked list of categories. A letter from My Money talks through your recent spending in a few friendly paragraphs, such as your biggest category, your heaviest day and your pace against the daily budget, and you can keep it.
What are the daily, weekly and monthly recaps?
Recaps are short look-backs that compare a day, a week or a month of spending with your budget. When there isn’t enough data yet, they say so plainly.
Does My Money have widgets and reminders?
Yes. There are Home Screen widgets in two sizes, with an option to hide amounts, and evening reminders you can set to gentle, clear, or only when you are over budget.
Privacy and data
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. There is no account and the developer keeps no server copy of your ledger; budget math always runs on the device, and entry parsing and insights do too by default, using Apple’s on-device model on compatible iPhones and local rules and templates otherwise.
Does My Money use online AI?
Only if you turn it on. The optional online AI uses DeepSeek through the developer’s relay hosted on Vercel; it is off by default, each feature asks for your consent before anything is sent, and you can switch it off or withdraw a single feature at any time in Settings → Online AI.
What is sent when online AI is on, and what is never sent?
Only the text that one request needs: for example one entry’s text with the date, time zone and currency, the text read from a screenshot, or category totals for a report. Photos, screenshots, audio and your full ledger are never uploaded, and reports do not include per-entry notes; the privacy policy lists every field and recipient.
Is text sent to DeepSeek kept or used for training?
It may be. DeepSeek’s published terms set no fixed retention period for these inputs and do not promise they are never used for training, so My Money makes no zero-retention promise; the developer’s relay does not log request content. Leave passwords, ID numbers and card numbers out of anything you send.
How do I export or erase my data?
Settings lets you export a backup and erase all data. Erasing removes transactions, budgets, assessments and decision records and cancels reminders; because there is no server copy, the developer cannot restore erased data.
Availability and devices
Which iPhones does My Money run on?
My Money needs an iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later. Voice logging also needs on-device speech recognition for your language, and only some models have an Action Button.
Which languages does My Money support?
English and Simplified Chinese, and you can switch between them inside the app. The English interface shows $ and the Chinese interface shows ¥.
Where can I download My Money?
On the App Store, where it is listed as “My Money: Budget & Expense Log”, in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Germany and other storefronts. It is not on the mainland China App Store.

No. My Money never connects to a bank or card and does not import transactions, so every entry is logged by you: by typing, voice or screenshots. The guide to budgeting without bank sync covers the trade-offs.
Can I share a budget with a partner or family?
No. There is no shared or family ledger; My Money is a personal budget kept on one iPhone.
Does My Money support multiple currencies?
No. There is no multi-currency support or conversion: the English interface shows $, the Chinese interface shows ¥, and amounts are plain numbers with no exchange rates.
Is there an Android, web or Mac version?
No. My Money is iPhone only; there is no Android app, web version or Mac app.
Does My Money sync between devices?
No. My Money has no account and does not sync between devices; your records stay on that iPhone. Export a backup from Settings, especially before you change phones. Your iPhone’s own iCloud or computer backups may also include app data, depending on your settings.
Is My Money financial advice?
No. Budget plans, recaps and suggestions are for personal budgeting and reference only; they are not financial, investment or tax advice.
